Word was received in this city this morning of the death of Nick Burkerd of Wood River while on a visit to Illinois. The remains passed through the city at noon today and the funeral will take place at Wood River at four o’clock this afternoon. Mr. Burkerd was well along in years and has been failing in health, having gone to Illnois in search of improvement. He was a member of G.A.R. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and three children. Two brothers also reside at Wood River. Mr. H. A. Guy, of this city is a cousin of the deceased. Mr. Burkerd has been a resident of the county for many years.
