Wood River, Nebr., Nov. 25–(Special Dispatch)–The many relatives and friends of the family here were painfully shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. Clark Gibbs, only daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. R. R. Root, of Wood River, which occurred at her home in Ypsilanti, Mich., Tuesday evening, following a brief illness of catarrhal jaundice. She was aged 25 years. The announcement of her death came as a distinct shock to her parents, who were not aware of her serious illness. Only on Tuesday, her mother had received a letter from her, written a day or two previous, in which she stated that she had been ill with jaundice, but no alarm was felt as she was believed to be recovering from the attack.

Mrs. Gibbs, formerly Miss Dorothy Root, had lived practically all of her life here and was well known in this community. She was a graduate of the Wood River high school, class of 1918, and was a talented pianist. For two years she was employed as organist at the Strand theater, in Grand Island. Just three weeks ago, on November 2nd, she was untied in marriage with Clark Gibbs, manager of the mercer Drug company chain stores, of Ypsilanti, where the couple resided.

Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by three brothers, Luther and Frank of Wood River, and Daniel, principal of the schools of Evanston, Wyo. Her father is relief agent for the Union Pacific, at present being stationed at Elkhorn, Nebr.

The body will be brought to Wood River for burial, funeral services being held from the Presbyterian church here at 2 p.m. Sunday.
