Boy Fatally Kicked.
Cow Threw Boy Out of Wagon Under Mule’s Heels.
Wood River, Neb., Aug. 17 — A distressing accident occurred here Thursday night, which resulted in the instant death of Ollie Schooley, the 16-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Schooley, living one-half mile north of town. He was bringing a cow from the farm of Frank Schooley to their home north of town, having the cow loaded in a wagon to which was hitched a team of mules. When within two miles of town the cow became unmanageable, crowding Ollie out of the wagon and under the mules, when they became scared and started to run. One of them kicked him in the neck and jaw in such a manner as to dislocate the neck and jaw. The boy was immediately picked up by Ed Dumphy and rapidly taken to town, but did not show any signs of life after being picked up. His aged father is laid up as the result of a broken leg received the day before by falling from a wagon.
