Alexander Berlew, an old soldier of the late war, died at the home of Mrs. Callahan, west of Wood River last Thursday, and was buried in the Wood River cemetery Friday. Rev. Dressler, of the M. E. church, delivered the funeral sermon which was very impressive for the occasion. Comrade Berlew was 80 years old. He was taken with a stroke of paralysis and died almost instantly. The comrade belonged to the 107th Illinois Infantry and was a pensioner.
