Hunter Drowned in the Platte.
Leuvern Burmood, aged 17, was drowned in the Platte River, six miles east of Shelton. He was hunting on a sand bar, and an ice gorge broke above him. The river rose suddenly, and in attempting to reach the mainland he was drowned in plain sight of his brother, who was on the shore.
