Married: Sept. 10, 1953, to Gladys McAhren in Wood River; lived their entire married lives in Wood River where he farmed until 1978
Activities: member of the Wood River District 8 School Board for several years until 1957; served on the Hall County Board of Supervisors, 1958-1978, serving as president in 1975.
Couple spent winters in Texas, Florida, California and Arizona 1985-1999.
Member of the church in Wood River, the Eagles Club in Grand Island, the Wood River Lion’s Club, the Platt-Deutsche Society in Grand Island and Royal Neighbors of America.
Enjoyed golfing and had two holes-in-one; enjoyed shuffleboard and had won numerous tournaments, Nebraska football and farming.
Survivors include: wife; sons, John of Fort Morgan, Colo. and Gary of Grand Island; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harold, Dean, Leon and an infant, sisters, Mary Ethel, Mildred, Ruth, Marlea, Dorothy and Alice; and a grandson, Donn.
