Wood River Notes
Mrs. Arnena E. Curtis, wife of Wilbur F. Curtis, died at her residence in Wood River, Saturday, Feb. 1th, aged 63 years and one month. Death came to her as a relief as she had been sick for a year or more. W. F. Curtis and late wife came to Wood River 18 years ago. The deceased leaves, besides her husband, one son, Ed Curtis of Morrison, Ill., and two daughters, Mrs. A. L. Lapoint and Miss Hattie Curtis, who live in Wood River. One daughter, Mrs. Cora Brass, died two years ago. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the M.E. church of this city. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Dressler of the M.E. church, assisted by Rev. J. C. Irwin of the Presbyterian church, Monday at 2:30 o’clock. Mrs. Curtis had selected her own hymns to be sung at the funeral, as also the pall bearers, who were W. W. Mitchell, A. C. White, T. C. Taylor, W. S. Warren, Wm. Coomes and J. C. Burkerd.

Those attending from Grand Island were a brother, E. L. Curtis (sic) and wife, Mrs. Fred Dodd, a sister and husband, Mr. Ed Crofford and wife of Alda. N. J. Parker and wife of Stromsburg also attended. The funeral was largely attended. Mrs. Eaton presided at the organ by deceased’s request. Thus another good old mother has gone.
