He enlisted in Company F, One Hundred Forty-sixth Indiana Regiment of Infantry and served till the end of the war, being mustered out in September, 1865. After the war he returned to Indiana and became a farmer, residing there until 1889, when he came to Hall County, Nebraska, and settled in Cameron township
