The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, June 21, 1956
The Reverend Mrs. Jestine Jensen, 65, died sometime Saturday night in her apartment here, where she had made her home for but a few weeks. A Nelson resident for many years, she had retired from the ministry last year due to failing health and returned here.

Her death was discovered shortly after the noon hour Sunday by neighbors in an adjoining apartment. Authorities believed she died sometime early the previous night.

Funeral services were conducted in Klawitter chapel Tuesday morning with the Rev. Lincoln Justice officiating. Burial was made in the cemetery at Wood River.

Jestine Rennick Jensen was born on a farm near Toulon, Ill., Aug. 19, 1890, and came to Nebraska with her parents as an infant. At the age of 13 she was baptized and joined on profession of faith the Methodist Church at Nelson, Neb.
She was graduated from the Nelson public schools and completed a teachers certificate course in piano at Lincoln, Neb. She graduated from the Methodist Theological School for religious workers at Chicago, which is now affiliated with Garret Seminary at Evanston, Ill. Unable to pass the physical examination for foreign missions, she served some time in the Methodist Orphanage at Urbana, Ill.
She united in marriage with Chris E. Jensen Nov. 12, 1927, who preceded her in death.

Answering a call to the ministry during World War II she went into a pulpit when there were so many vacant churches. She took the required conference course of Methodist ministers and received all her ordinations. She served until 1955 when her health made it impossible to continue the work. obit courtesy of Peggy Duey
