Mary R. McKee, the daughter of Frank and Sybil (Rush) Coover, was born at St. Joseph, Missouri, on November 23, 1909, and died at York, Nebraska, on June 25, 1993, at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 2 days.
She grew up and attended school at Sterling, Nebraska, and later attended college.
In 1926, she married Harry Krantz, in Lincoln, Nebraska, and they lived in Westerville, Nebraska, and several other communities, and the family moved to Grand Island in 1941.
In 1964, she was united in marriage to Clifford “Mack” McKee, and they lived in Grand Island. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Mary was manager for the Wolback Department Store Grill in Grand Island for 18 years.
In 1978, she moved to Aurora, to be near her daughter, and has recently resided at the Hearthstone in York, Nebraska.
Mary was a member of the Aurora First Christian Church and belonged to the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of the Doe Lodge, Eagles, and the V.F.W.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one son Harlan; 4 brothers, Paul Coover, Francis “Pete” Coover, Dale Coover, and Art Coover; and one sister Ozell Harms.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Jack Krantz of Lake Havasu, Arizona, and Gary Krantz of Mellissa, Texas; one daughter Lorayne “Penny” Potter of Aurora; 2 sisters, June Krantz of Ansley, and Helen Helton of Portland, Oregon; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
