Martha Jane Miles Is Taken By Death
Mrs. Martha Jane Miles, 76, widow of B. F. Miles, died at the home of her brother, W. A. Jacobus, two miles east of Wood River, about 9:30 a.m., Sunday, death resulting from a heart attack. She recently had recovered from an attack of influenza.
Mrs. Miles was born in Logan county, Ill., January 23, 1861, and there grew to young womanhood. She was married to Mr. Miles in Logan county, Nov. 8, 1883. The young couple came to Nebraska in the spring of 1891, taking a farm five miles northwest of Alda. Later they moved to Missouri, where they resided for thirteen years, returning to this county in 1925. Mr. Miles died three years later and Mrs. Miles moved to her brother’s home.
Mrs. Miles is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Alice Halderman, of Grand Island, and Mrs. Laura B. Quisenberry, Emporia, Kas., and the brother, W. A. Jacobus. A sister, as well as the husband, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at the Livingston-Sondermann funeral home, Wednesday, at two p.m., with Rev. William Oeschger, of this city, officiating. Burial will be in the Wood River cemetery.
