WOOD RIVER — Thomas Joseph Millette, 94, of Wood River died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, at Good Samaritan Society, Wood River.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wood River Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Brad Jepsen officiating. Burial will be in Wood River Cemetery. Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Millette was born May 31, 1921, in Worcester, Mass., the son of Joseph Thomas and Alice F. (Lussier) Millette. He grew up in Worcester, Mass., and received his education at Worcester High School in Massachusetts. He entered the United States Army Air Force on Dec. 5, 1942, and was honorably discharged Feb. 21, 1946, serving during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Iona L. Evans on July 25, 1945, in Hays, Kan. The couple made their home in Wood River in 1946, where he was employed with Union Pacific Railroad. Tom was assistant scoutmaster and worked with Cub Scouts for many years. Tom and Iona loved to roller skate and did so into their 60s. Tom was able to take an honor flight in May 2012.
He was a member of Wood River Presbyterian Church and Wood River/Alda VFW and was a HAM Radio operator.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Iona Millette of Wood River; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas J. and Debbie Millette Jr. of Bridgeport, Reggie Millette of Grand Island, Carl and Charlene Millette of Worcester, Mass.; and three grandchildren, Michelle Duchow, Nicole Millette and Andrew Millette.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cecelia Millette.

They have three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
Tom was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Wood River Nebraska where he held many offices. He was a very devoted Christian
Tom worked for the Union Pacific Railroad
