Colene M. Opp, 82, of Wood River died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Mrs. Opp was born July 2, 1920 to William R. and Minnie (Keechler) Andersen at Wilton, Minn. She attended grade school in Minnesota and graduated from Gibbon High School in 1938. She worked in the Ogallala, Grand Island and Wood River areas.
She married Karl E. Opp on Aug. 30, 1940 in the Methodist parsonage in Wood River. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul English Lutheran Church in Grand Island. She and her husband lived on their farm for more than 55 years.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wood River and was a charter member of the Hall County Extension Club. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, playing cards and bowled on leagues at West Side Lanes in Grand Island.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd “Butch” and Jan Opp of Grand Island; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karlene and Vic Lambrecht of Wood River and Judy Cole of Alexandria, VA.; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Evangeline Hall and Beulah Carey.
