Paul A. Quisenberry, 99, formerly of Wood River, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Riverside Lodge in Grand Island.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wood River United Methodist Church, with Bev Hieb officiating.

Burial will follow in the Wood River Cemetery.

Visitation will from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church.

Paul was born Dec. 18, 1922, on the family farm in the Schauppsville Community near Wood River to Paul and Margaret (Allan) Quisenberry.

He is the third generation to live and work on the family farm.

Paul attended grade school at the Schauppsville School and graduated from Wood River High School with the Class of 1941.

Paul and Minnie Perdew met through mutual friends. They, along with two very close friends, eloped to Smith Center, Kan., and were married Feb. 8, 1947, at the Methodist parsonage.

Minnie and Paul settled near Alda, where Paul farmed. They later moved three miles west to the family farm. They were married for 64 years.

Paul and Minnie had three children, Jacque, Janet and Gary. In addition to their children, they enjoyed traveling to Mexico City, Acapulco, Washington, D.C., Hawaii, Kansas City and Florida.

Paul was on the board of directors of the Wood River Coop., a 71-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, 4-H Club leader, the Methodist Church, associate guardian of Jobs Daughters, T-Bone Club and the Liederkranz of Grand Island.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Ida Quisenberry of Wood River; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Sherman Carr of Gibbon; son-in-law, Dave Jacox of Omaha; eight grandchildren and their spouses: Jeremiah (Sarah) Garber of Lincoln, Sara (Tyler) Muhs of Lincoln, Holly (Henry) Valdes of Omaha, Abby (Jason) Evans of Arnold, Mo., Maggie Carr of Minneapolis, Minn., Dr. Stephanie Vondrak of Elkhorn, Paula (Roy) Patrick of Oakton, Va., Matt (Leslie) Jacox of Waterloo; 11 great-grandchildren, Kennedy Muhs of Lincoln, Haley and Reese Evans of Arnold, Mo., Harry, Elizabeth and David Vondrak of Elkhorn, Julia and Charlotte Patrick of Oakton, Va., Jaxson, Chase and Griffin Jacox of Waterloo; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Elayne and Dawson Evans of Arnold, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Minnie; daughter, Jacque Jacox; brother, Art Quisenberry; and sisters, Sally Dubbs, Ferne Thompson and Marian Hansen.
