James Shick, an early settler of this community, passed away at 10 o’clock this morning after an extended illness. The deceased was 80 years of age and his death was caused by appoplexy. He leaves three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Ross Root, Mrs. Sam Sherrerd, Mrs. Wilbur Mercer, Frank Shick, all of Wood River, and Will Shick of Lincoln. There are fourteen grandchildren and a host of sorrowing friends to mourn his loss. The funeral arrangements have not been made as yet.
