Jack was born in Grand Island, NE on February 2, 1949 to Joseph and Shirley (Titus) Struebing. He was the second of four children.
The family moved to Crookston, MN where Jack learned to ice skate, and played hockey for the Crookston High Pirates. The family ultimately moved back to Grand Island where Jack graduated from Grand Island Senior High.
Jack enlisted in the US Air Force like his older brother Joe. After tech training, Jack was sent overseas to Vietnam supporting maintenance analysis and flight operations on large cargo aircraft. After his assignment in Vietnam, he was stationed at Travis AFB near Vacaville, CA where he continued working maintenance analysis on the flight line.
Jack was honorably discharged on February 18, 1972 and continued to reside in the Vacaville area, partnering with an entrepreneur to work a Home Alarm Installation business.
Jack then joined the civil service working the flight light line at Travis AFB again. He moved into the electrical engineering shop and started a new career with the Civil Engineering Maintenance Inspection & Repair Team (CEMIRT), leading and managing services and maintenance teams that work on remote site generators and control systems. During this time, he met and married Sherry Noble. He was re-assigned to Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs and other AFB bases around the country before returning to Travis AFB.
Jack retired from civil service and continued to reside in Vacaville enjoying golf, grilling steaks, and visiting old Air Force buddies and family.
Jack passed away on June 1, 2018 at the age of 69.
He is survived by his wife: Sherry; son: Michael (Stefani) Struebing; granddaughter: Sienna; brothers: Kim (Lynn) Struebing, Gail Struebing; nieces Hannah Struebing, Tamara Shane) Atkin; nephew: Jeremy Struebing; aunts: Betty Williams, Neva Knerl; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
