Abbie Dawn (Powell) Vialpando, 32, of Wood River died Friday, Aug. 11, 2017. Abbie’s fight with cancer came to an end as she was called Home, surrounded by her loved ones.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wood River.
Interment will be in the Wood River Cemetery. Father Jorge Canela will be officiating.
Abbie was born July 30, 1985, in Grand Island, the daughter of Steve and Kathy (Livingston) Powell.
She grew up and received her education in Wood River, graduating from Wood River High School with the class of 2003. She graduated with high honors from Southeast Community College in Lincoln with an Associate Degree.
She was united in marriage to Jay Vialpando on Dec. 8, 2007, in Wood River.
The couple made their home in Wood River.
She was employed at Roberts Pump & Supply in Grand Island.
Abbie enjoyed going to the movies, the lake, casinos, trying out new restaurants, along with traveling.
She loved the Golden State Warriors basketball team.
Her greatest enjoyment in life came from having a good time with her family and friends.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jay of Wood River, a son, Cameron, and a daughter, Jocelyn, both at home; her parents, Steve and Kathy Powell of Grand Island; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arnold and Sheri Vialpando of Wood River; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Chelsea Powell of Shelton; a nephew, Jaxson Powell of Shelton; her grandfather, Virgil “Bud” Powell of Grand Island; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends.
Abbie was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Donna Powell; her maternal grandparents, Sherley “Jr.” and Maxine Livingston; and two uncles, Ronald Livingston and Roger Livingston.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wood River.
Thank you to everyone who has supported and prayed for Abbie. It meant a lot to her and the family through this long journey. Abbie was a warrior in every sense of the word and one thing can be said about her — she didn’t go down without a fight. Celebrate her life, cherish the memories, and know that we all now have the most beautiful guardian angel.
