The many friends of Mrs. Fanny Winn of Grand Island were pained to learn of her death Tuesday morning at her home in that city from a paralytic stroke. . . . About two o’clock Tuesday morning her daughter was awakened by the groans of her mother and she was found to be in an unconscious condition. . . Short funeral services were held at the home in Grand Island Thursday morning when the remains were brought to Wood River and funeral services were held in the Methodist church conducted by Rev. H. W. Wagner of Clarks, a former pastor, in the presence of a large congregation. Interment took place in the Wood River cemetery, the remains laid to rest beside her husband. . .

Francis Saphrona Bratton was born at Adamsville, Ohio, July 29, 1840 (sic). At the age of 16 years she joined the Baptist church, later uniting with the M.E. church, and died in that faith. April 5, 1866, she was united in marriage with Hiram Shaw Winn, who preceded her in death, March 24, 1904. Immediately after her marriage she removed with her husband from Ohio to Moultrie county, Illinois, where they resided until the spring of 1878, when they moved to Hall county, Nebraska, and settled on a homestead 2 1/2 miles north of Wood River and where she continued to reside until 1911, when she moved to Grand Island. She was the mother of eight children, six daughters and two sons, the oldest, a son, dying in infancy. The surviving children are: Mrs. S. N. Taylor, Mrs. Geo. Filsinger, Mrs. Dr. J. H. Meyers and Miss Ida B. Winn, all of Grand Island, Mrs. J. M. Wortz of Worthington, Minn., Mrs. A. H. Rice of Minneapolis, Minn., and O. K. Winn of Wood River. Besides these she leaves four grandchildren, also one sister, Mrs. Hannah Bowman, of Wood River. . .
