Barry Philip Greenwood, 51, passed away on January 19, 2018 at home in Winter Springs, FL. Barry formerly lived in Cairo, NE.
Barry was born, the son of Jack Sr. and Phyllis (Bates) Greenwood, on November 26, 1966. He grew up on the family farm east of Wood River and attended Schauppsville country school. He graduated from Northwest High School in Grand Island, NE in 1985.
After high school, Barry went to work at Leon Plastics. In September 1987, he was united in marriage to Anita Hardekopf. Together, they had 2 children, Amy – born in February 1988, and Brandon – born in July 1994 and they raised their family in Wood River, NE. As a family, they enjoyed taking their boat to the lake and staying in the cabin they owned at Harlan County Reservoir.
Barry made his career at Case New Holland, where he worked for 26 years. He enjoyed interacting with all of his coworkers and made many lifelong friends there. During shutdowns at CNH Barry would often go to help out and work at Landell-Thelen in Shelton, NE selling parts and accessories for farm equipment.
Barry loved the farm life and enjoyed collecting toy tractors and hunting. He was very passionate about smoking meats and always prepared delicious meals for his family during the holidays. He also enjoyed taking his beagle, Jasper to the Humane Society to volunteer their time with dogs who were in need of love.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include his children, Amy Greenwood and Brandon Greenwood, both of Grand Island; his brothers, Jack Jr. (Cheryl) Greenwood of Grand Island, and Cory (Trish) Greenwood of Omaha; and his sister, Jennifer (Bert) Melix of Winter Springs, FL. Other survivors include nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will follow at the Wood River Cemetery. All Faiths
Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
