WOOD RIVER — Bernard “Bud” J. Kimminau, 77, of Wood River died Saturday, Match 18, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society in Wood River.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at
Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River. Father Jorge Canela will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Wood River Cemetery.
To honor Bud’s wishes, his body will be cremated. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Apfel Funeral Home in Wood River is assisting the family.
Bernard was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Deweese to Phillip and Erma (Drapal) Kimminau. He grew up in
Deweese, Harvard, and Hastings. He graduated from Harvard High School in 1958. He lived in Grand Island and Superior before moving to Wood River.
He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1960.
He was united in marriage to Sharyl Baker on May 21, 1960, in Harvard.
He was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed sports. Bud enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. He drove truck for Grand Island Contract Carriers for 31 years.
Those left to cherish his memory include wife, Sharyl of Wood River; two daughters and a son-in-law, Eva Marie Heminger of Wood River, and Ann Marie and Kevin Krzycki of Ashton; a son and daughter-in-law, David Dale and Pam Kimminau of Wood River; his grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathan Heminger, Lindsay and Kolby Krzycki, Nicholas and Terri Thompson, Adam Thompson, Jordan and Jeff Harders, Cydney and Brady Weiss, and Kyla Kimminau; his great-grandchildren, Brodi, London, Sean, Danyka, Quinn and Peyton; a brother, Donald Kimminau of Denver, Colo.; and a brother-in-law, Dale Baker of Westminister, Colo.
Bud was preceded in death by his father, Phillip Kimminau; his mother, Erma Kirchen; his stepfather, Ben Kirchen; a sister, Mary Ann Hoins; a sister-in-law, Lorna Kimminau; and a son-in-law, Bob Heminger.
