Donald was the son of Amos and Mary Rice Hall from New York. Following the passing of his father and illness of his mother, Donald and his sister Mildred came to Nebraska in June of 1917 on the Orphan Train. They were both adopted by Charles and Isabelle Kunz. Donald died in an overturned car accident.
