Married to Pearl Reed on 10-10-1954 at Wood River, NE.
Mr. Mead built his own machine and welding shop in 1977. He ran it with his sons until his retirement in 1993
He served on the Wood River Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and as a Wood River city councilman for 11 years. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wood River, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
