Donald D. Mead, 77, of Wood River died Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney.
Donald was born Jan. 5, 1935, in Wood River to Delbert G. and Edna A. (Wiese) Mead.
Survivors are: wife, Marlene of Wood River; sons and daughter-in-law, Craig L. Mead of Wood River, Douglas and Maria Mead of Ravenna; and daughter, Christine A. Johnson of Belgrade; grandchildren, Jason Mead, Elizabeth Mead, Andy Mead, Shannon Anderson, Dalynn and Justin Patch, Kodi Anderson, Kelcey and Tim Shoemaker, Chaz and Sammy Johnson and JaCee Johnson, and a special niece and nephew, Vicki and Mike Woodrich of St. Libory, as well as 15 great-grandchildren.
Donald grew up in Wood River where he received his education.
He was united in marriage to Marlene Dibbern on Nov. 24, 1957, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
The couple made their home in Wood River, where he was employed at Farmer’s Co-op for 18 ½ and later he worked for Hall County Department of Roads for 19 years retiring in 2001.
Donald was a member of the Presbyterian Church, past member of the Lions Club and the Platt Duetsche Society in Grand Island.
Donald enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting.
Donald was preceded in death by: parents and son-in-law, Dan Johnson.
Burial was in the Wood River Cemetery, Wood River, NE.
