Wood River, Neb., Jan. 28–(Special Dispatch)–Coming as a distinct and painful shock to her host of friends was the announcement of the death of Mrs. Devere Morgan, a bride of three months, which occurred at the St. Francis hospital in Grand Island at 8:45 p.m. Friday. Death resulted from a sub-diaphragmatic abscess, located between the liver and diaphragm. In a serious condition she was taken to the hospital for treatment ten days ago.
Mrs. Morgan, the former Miss Eileen (sic) Mercer, was born in Wood River July 3, 1903, being the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Mercer. Mr. Mercer is employed at the First National bank of Wood River. Here she grew to young womanhood, and on October 27, 1927, was united in marriage with Devere Morgan, of Wood River. Besides her bereaved husband and parents, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Clark and Mrs. Lucille Johnson, both of Grand Island. Funeral services will be held at two o’clock Monday afternoon from the Presbyterian church here, Rev. Phiffer officiating. Burial will be in the Wood River cemetery.
