DOROTHY LORENZEN NELSON Born on a farm near to where the wide shallow Platte River flows close to Wood River, Nebraska, March 23, 1915. She passed away on April 5, 2006. She received her elementary education in a one room country school. She was a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Kearney. For a number of years she taught primary grades and grade school music in Nebraska and California. She was married to Ernest L. Nelson, June 24, 1940. She is the mother of Mrs. Ingrid Lewis of Salinas and Todd Nelson of San Leandro. She lived in San Leandro since March of 1943, was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church since that date. For many years she served on the Chancel Guild, was a deacon, circle member and choir member. She has been a P.E.O since the summer of 1941 and a charter member of Chapter MO. For many years she was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Always interested in music, she was an original member of the San Lorenzo Piano Ensemble which began in 1965. She is survived by her husband, Ernest L. Nelson; a daughter, Ingrid; son, Todd; two grandchildren, Craig Ajeska of Salinas, Mrs. Emily Wilson of Roseville and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 180 Estudillo Avenue, San Leandro, Saturday, April 15th at 1:00 p.m. with a reception following.
