Carl A. Williams, 80, a former resident, died Tuesday evening at a Central City nursing home.
Funeral services win be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Apfel Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Hovis officiating. Burial will be in Wood River Cemetery.
The family requests no visitation.
Mr. Williams was born March 4, 1902, on a farm near Davenport,the son of John and Marie Swenson Williams. He received his education at Davenport.
On May 30, 1940, he married Elleen Means at Beatrice. The couple farmed in the Shickley area until 1951 when they moved to Wood River. He was employed at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant until 1956, and by the City of Wood River as a policeman until 1960, then managed a Phillips 66 gas station until his retirement in 1974.
Due to failing health, he moved to a nursing home in Central City in July, 1981.
He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Wood River.
He is survived by a son, Robert of Central City; a daughter, Julie Hariel of Tokyo, Japan; two grandsons; one sister, Nellie Johnson, and one brother, Dr. Martin Williams, both of Ashland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a brother and a sister.
