Israel Ayers, 88, long time resident in the Shelton vicinity, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Lowe, east of Grand Island. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. E. C. Staley in the Shelton Methodist church at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be in the Wood River Cemetery.
Born in Cambridgeshire, England, March 5, 1858, Mr. Ayers came to America and settled in Michigan when he was 17. In 1886 he was married to Mary Jane Richardson and in 1888 they came to Nebraska and settled in Cherry county, where they lived for five years. In 1893 they moved to a farm north of Shelton and in 1913 took up their residence in Shelton where they remained until failing health caused them to moved to the home of their daughter.
Mrs. Ayers died Oct. 20, 1945. A granddaughter, Rosina Alice Lowe, also preceded him in death. In addition to Mrs. Lowe, Mr. Ayers is survived by another daughter, Mrs. George Bedford, and two granddaughters, Barbara Ann and Marilyn Jane Bedford, all of Seward.
