A number from Alda attended the funeral services of Mr. Simon Jacobus at Wood River Sunday afternoon. Mr. Jacobus some years ago was a resident of Alda and later of Schauppsville, and a couple of years ago moved to Wood River where he has since resided. Mr. Jacobus came to this locality in 1884 and was well known by all the pioneer settlers. Death was caused by old age. He was 79 years old the 23rd of last April. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Charles Haldeman, residing northwest of Alda; Mrs. Thomas Simpson and Mrs. Frank Miles of Fulton, Mo.; and Mrs. Elmer Quissenberry, of Emporia, Kans., and one son, Warren Jacobus who resides at Schauppsville on the home place. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved ones.
