Dale A. Layher, 63, of Wood River died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Wood River. The Rev. Phil Sloat will officiate. 

Burial will be at the Wood River Cemetery. 

Mr. Layher was born Aug. 30, 1951, in Grand Island to Sherman and Kathryn (Henderson Becker) Layher. 

He grew up in Wood River, graduating from Wood River High School in 1969. He then graduated from the University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture in Curtis in 1971.

He returned to Wood River and worked for Plains Irrigation out of Grand Island. Dale also worked for L & D Urethane in Wood River as well as raising hogs on his own throughout his life. Dale had worked the last 23 years at CPI in Wood River.

Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wood River. 

Dale was an avid Husker fan. 

He enjoyed raising hogs, playing board games and especially the time spent with his family.

Dale is survived by his mother, Kathryn Layher of Wood River; two brothers, Francis Becker of Wood River and Clifford and wife, Betty, Becker of Phillips; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Sherman Layher; and his grandparents.
